  • Master the art of Yoga Nidra: Learn the techniques and philosophy behind this transformative practice.
  • Experience profound inner peace: Immerse yourself in the restorative power of Yoga Nidra for your own well-being.
  • Share the gift of relaxation: Confidently teach Yoga Nidra classes and workshops, impacting the lives of others.

Sumit Manav trained in the Himalayas under traditional yogic masters. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma from Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV), Haridwar — one of India’s most respected centres of classical yoga scholarship — and carries BKS Iyengar certification, a credential earned by very few teachers worldwide.

He has taught Yoga Nidra for over 25 years — in private sessions, studio classes, corporate wellness programmes, and retreat settings across Dubai and the UK. His teaching is rooted in the lineage of Swami Satyananda Saraswati and the Bihar School, the tradition from which modern Yoga Nidra practice originates. His corporate clients include Emirates, PepsiCo, Emaar, Kellogg’s, Fairmont, and flydubai.

His approach to Yoga Nidra is classical in its foundation and precise in its application. He does not teach a modern adaptation. He teaches the original practice — with 25 years of evidence that it works.

YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

Is This Course Your Ideal Journey?

You are a yoga teacher who wants to offer something your students cannot find anywhere else in Dubai. You sense that what they need goes deeper than movement — and you are ready to learn how to take them there.

You are a therapist, counsellor, or healthcare professional who already understands the mind-body connection. You want a tool that creates measurable, repeatable results — something you can use in clinical settings with full confidence.

You work in corporate wellness and you are looking for the one practice that lands immediately with stressed, time-poor professionals. Yoga Nidra in a 30-minute lunchtime session delivers more nervous system restoration than most hour-long yoga classes.

You are a dedicated practitioner who has experienced Yoga Nidra and felt something shift. You want to understand what happened — and learn to create that experience for others.

If any of these sounds like you, you are in exactly the right place.

What our graduates say

Lives Changed. Sleep Transformed.

From yoga teachers to therapists, corporate wellness leads to complete beginners — here is what happens when people learn to truly guide deep rest.

"

I have taught yoga for eight years and always ended class with a short savasana. After this training I understood for the first time what I had been rushing through. Sumit taught me that savasana and Yoga Nidra are two completely different things — and now the last 20 minutes of my class is where the real transformation happens. My students feel it. They tell me every week.

I am a clinical psychologist and I attended this training looking for evidence-based tools I could offer clients struggling with insomnia, anxiety, and burnout. What I found went far beyond that. Sumit's grounding in the ancient texts combined with his understanding of modern neuroscience is genuinely rare. I now offer Yoga Nidra sessions as part of my clinical practice. The results have been remarkable.

I run wellness programmes for a large financial services company in DIFC. I introduced a 30-minute lunchtime Yoga Nidra session after this training and it became the most requested programme in our entire wellness calendar within six weeks. Senior leaders who had never attended a wellness session were booking it. Sumit's training gave me both the skill and the language to sell it internally. I cannot overstate the impact.

I lead sound healing retreats and had been curious about Yoga Nidra for years but never found training that went deep enough into the classical tradition. This course changed everything. Sumit's lineage goes back to the Himalayan masters and it shows in every session — the depth, the precision, the understanding of the koshas and sankalpa is unlike anything available in Dubai. I now weave Yoga Nidra into every retreat I run and it has become the element guests request most.

I was not a yoga teacher when I joined this training. I was a 42-year-old executive who had not slept properly in three years. I took the course because I was desperate — not because I planned to teach. By the second day I experienced a Yoga Nidra session guided by Sumit that gave me the deepest rest I had felt in years. I cried. I did not fully understand why. I understand now. I teach small private groups once a week and every single participant says the same thing — they leave feeling like they have slept for a week. This training gave me that gift and I give it to others now.

1
Foundations of Yoga Nidra
After this module, you will be able to explain exactly what Yoga Nidra is, how it differs from sleep and meditation, and why it produces measurable physiological change — in language both students and healthcare professionals understand.
10
hours
Theory
  • The origins of Yoga Nidra — from the Tantric texts to Swami Satyananda Saraswati and the Bihar School lineage
  • Definition and philosophy of Yoga Nidra — what it is, what it is not, and why it matters
  • The five stages of the practice — physical relaxation, pratyahara, visualisation, sankalpa, and integration
  • The science of Yoga Nidra — brainwaves (alpha, theta, delta), the nervous system, and the hypnagogic state
  • The five koshas — the complete map of the Yoga Nidra journey from annamaya to anandamaya
  • The role of chakras, nadis, and the subtle body in Yoga Nidra practice
  • Sankalpa — the science of intention setting in the subconscious mind
  • Benefits for physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing — the research evidence
  • Distinctions between Yoga Nidra, meditation, hypnosis, sleep, and guided relaxation
  • Different styles and traditions — comparing classical, modern, and therapeutic approaches
Practice
  • Full guided Yoga Nidra session led by Sumit in the classical Himalayan tradition — your first experience of the complete practice as a student
  • Asanas and pranayama designed specifically to prepare the body and nervous system for Yoga Nidra
  • Pratyahara practices — learning to guide students inward before the Yoga Nidra begins
  • Voice modulation exercises — discovering your natural guiding voice, pace, and silence
  • Journaling and reflection — processing your personal experience of the practice as the foundation for teaching it
A note on lineage: Sumit Manav trained in the Himalayas and holds a Postgraduate Diploma from Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV), Haridwar — the institution directly connected to the classical Indian yogic tradition. His teaching of Yoga Nidra is rooted in the lineage of Swami Satyananda Saraswati and the Bihar School. This module opens with that history — because knowing where a practice comes from is what separates a certified guide from a genuine teacher.
2
Teaching Yoga Nidra
After this module, you will be able to write, record, and deliver your own complete Yoga Nidra script — and teach it confidently to individuals, groups, and mixed-level classes with the voice, pacing, and presence of an experienced guide.

hours
Theory
  • Structuring a complete Yoga Nidra session — the eight-stage framework from physical settling to integration
  • Developing your guiding voice — tone, pace, silence, and the difference between guiding and performing
  • Scripting techniques — how to write scripts that land in the body, not just the mind
  • Creating original Yoga Nidra scripts — themes, imagery, sankalpa, and personalisation
  • Adapting Yoga Nidra for different groups — beginners, experienced practitioners, children, elderly, and corporate participants
  • Utilising visualisations and imagery — the psychology of symbol, archetype, and opposites
  • Working with the sankalpa — how to guide students to find and use their own intention
  • Do's, don'ts, and safety guidelines — what to watch for and how to hold the space safely
  • Integrating Yoga Nidra into regular yoga classes, workshops, and retreats
  • Yoga Nidra for children and teenagers — adaptations, shorter formats, and age-appropriate imagery
Practice
  • Script writing workshop — each student writes their own complete 20-minute Yoga Nidra script during the session
  • Teaching practice in pairs — guide and be guided, experiencing both roles in real time
  • Small group teaching — deliver your script to a group of 4–6 participants under supervision
  • Live feedback and refinement from Sumit — specific, detailed guidance on your voice, pacing, word choices, and use of silence
  • Recording your own script — creating a reference guide you can use and refine after the course
  • Peer review — giving and receiving structured feedback from fellow participants
3
Advanced Applications — Therapeutic, Corporate & Specialist Contexts

hours

  • Yoga Nidra for chronic stress and burnout — cortisol, HRV, and the research evidence
  • Yoga Nidra for insomnia — clinical evidence, session design, and what distinguishes sleep yoga from therapeutic Yoga Nidra
  • Yoga Nidra for anxiety — what to include, what to modify, and how to hold space for participants in heightened states

Frequently Asked Questions

Yoga Nidra — meaning "yogic sleep" — is an ancient practice of conscious deep rest. The practitioner lies still while guided into the hypnagogic state between waking and sleeping, where the nervous system restores deeply, the subconscious becomes accessible, and profound healing can occur. Research shows a 30-minute session can be equivalent to 2–4 hours of ordinary sleep in terms of nervous system restoration.

This course is designed for yoga teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, corporate wellness practitioners, and dedicated students who want to learn to guide others into deep healing rest. No prior Yoga Nidra teaching experience is required.

Yes. On completion you receive a Yoga Alliance accredited certificate for 30 continuing education hours — valid toward your RYT renewal requirements globally.

In person at Shangri-La Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. Pre-course study materials are provided online.

Yoga Nidra is distinct from both. Unlike meditation, there is no effort to concentrate or observe. Unlike sleep, consciousness is maintained throughout. It operates in the hypnagogic threshold state — scientifically measurable through theta brainwave activity — where the nervous system restores at a depth ordinary sleep rarely achieves.
